Delphi Sector is an old sector and yet still largely a cipher throughout much of the Third Imperium.

  • It is bordered by the powerful Solomani Confederation, and is located near the enigmatic Hive Federation, and yet despite those presences, is not really defined by either.
  • The Delphi Rift is the most prominent astrographic feature in the region, but it scarcely affects internal trade or security arrangements. Determined enemies simply go around it.
  • The Domain of Sylea and the Tukera Lines megacorporation with its associated nobility, have certainly ruled it for many years, and yet the big squabbles between such interests typically are fought outside of the sector.
  • Perhaps the best associated factoid known to Imperial citizens, is the Lowalaa, a rather remarkable native lifeform that has become a widely recognized symbol of trust, caring, and loyalty within the sector and without.

Meta-history & Background

Delphi is an underdeveloped sector that has received relatively little attention from the publishing and fan communities over the years.

  1. In 1984, Atlas of the Imperium was published.
  2. In 1986, Hivers (Alien Module) was published.
  3. In 1987, MegaTraveller Imperial Encyclopedia was published.
  4. In 1989, the periodical Challenge #37 was published.

Description (Specifications)

Delphi Sector receives much coreward-rimward interstellar traffic, but little spinward-trailing commerce due to the Delphi Rift. Even with this great barrier, much traffic ebbs in through the Rimward Nub, a line of worlds with several mains sneaking along the rimward edge of the sector.

History & Background (Dossier)

Indigenic Notes: There are three sophont alien races native to Delphi, but no native surviving Minor Human Races.

  • Given the almost complete lack of Ancient archeological sites within the sector, the prevailing theory is that any humans brought to Delphi were killed during the Final War.

Notes: There are two major races (other than Humaniti) in Delphi:

  • The Vargr have a small pocket around Oeltou (Delphi 1213), which almost constitutes a pocket empire.
  • The Droyne are on three worlds, with just enough interest in the affairs of others to have been granted a Marquis.

Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)

This astrographic region has long been a fertile bed of the old nobility, separatists, seething conquered peoples, and foreign powers. Many competing trade powers, cartels, and syndicates further complicate the matter. The Rule of Man once planted racial seeds of contention into the area as well.

The presence of the Delphi Rift kept this area from forming a higher stellar density when this part of Galaxias formed. The area is additionally known for a number of strange micro anomalies dotted throughout Delphian interstellar space. Some believe that these anomalies might be related to the Final War of the Ancients. Neither the Vilani under the Ziru Sirka nor the Terrans under the Rule of Man ever solved the mystery.
