Delphi Sector is an old sector and yet still largely a cipher throughout much of the Third Imperium.

  • It is bordered by the powerful Solomani Confederation, and is located near the enigmatic Hive Federation, and yet despite those presences, is not really defined by either.
  • The Delphi Rift is the most prominent astrographic feature in the region, but it scarcely affects internal trade or security arrangements. Determined enemies simply go around it.
  • The Domain of Sylea, and the Tukera Lines megacorporation with its associated nobility, have certainly ruled it for many years, and yet the big squabbles between such interests typically are fought outside of the sector.
  • Perhaps the best associated factoid known to Imperial citizens is that Delphi is the origin of the Lowalaa, a rather remarkable lifeform that has become a widely recognized symbol of trust, caring, and loyalty within the sector and without.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Delphi Sector receives much coreward-rimward interstellar traffic, but little spinward-trailing commerce due to the Delphi Rift. Even with this great barrier, much traffic ebbs in through the Rimward Hub, a line of worlds with several mains sneaking along the rimward edge of the sector.

Toponyms: 1105[edit]

This sector has been known by different names to different groups over its existence including the following

Delphi Sector Names
Culture Toponym Polity
Third Imperium Delphi Third Imperium
Aslan Delphi Aslan Hierate
Droyne Unknown Droyne Oytrip Yatroy
Hiver Delphi Hive Federation
K'kree Delphi Two Thousand Worlds
Solomani Delphi Solomani Confederation

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:

In terms of location names within the sector, the long history of settlement and colonization by multiple cultures has resulted in a linguistic blend. World names are a mix of Vilani, various Terran languages, Irkonee, Kadli, Bhunj languages, and the languages of local Minor Races.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Indigenic Notes: There are three sophont alien races native to Delphi, but no native surviving Minor Human Races.

  • Given the almost complete lack of Ancient archeological sites within the sector, the prevailing theory is that any humans brought to Delphi were killed during the Final War.

Notes: There are two major races (other than Humaniti) in Delphi:

  • The Vargr have a small pocket around Oeltou (Delphi 1213), which almost constitutes a pocket empire.
  • The Droyne are on three worlds, with just enough interest in the affairs of others to have been granted a Marquis.

Native Sophonts (NIL): 1116[edit]

The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this area:

  • Non-Human Races
    • Unknown minor race
    • Unknown minor race
    • Unknown minor race
      • Some theories suggest that the original world of the Guy-Troy is located in Delphi.
  • Terragens (Non-human Terran races)
    • None

Demographics: 1116[edit]

Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

Historical Eras[edit]

Rule of Man[edit]

The Rule of Man inherited spinward Delphi from the Ziru Sirka. This was one of the regions relatively proximate to the Solomani Rim where Terran colonization was encouraged. The Terrans often assigned these colonies according to homeworld nation, leading to systems carrying names like "Uganda", "Mexican", "Irishmen", and "Napoleonic" (in reference to a French offshoot society).

Eager to reclaim the opportunity for long-range mercantile endeavour that they'd lost after the Consolidation Wars, the Bhunj of Fornast Sector embraced Solomani freedoms of the Rule of Man. They established a series of outposts to support expeditions to major worlds in Delphi like Ychea, Lashkagur, and Anaxias.

Despite these colonization and commercial activities, much of Delphi's history is obscure to modern historians. If rumours that Lashkagur is the Guy-Troy homeworld are accurate, then the concerted effort to control and remake their society while erasing their history might explain the general uncertainty.

Long Night and Early Third Imperium[edit]

In -530, the Free Human League was formed by worlds around Vashtil. This loose coalition of worlds had a centralized military based in Eta-Gu and Riramla subsectors. The League's major trading partners prior to the Pacification Campaigns were the Ychean Empire, which dominated what became the Aklan Subsector, and Ral Ranta, which then extended into Zuma and Breda subsectors.

Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]

This astrographic region has long been a fertile bed of the old nobility, separatists, seething conquered peoples, and foreign powers. Many competing trade powers, cartels, and syndicates further complicate the matter. The Rule of Man once planted racial seeds of contention into the area as well.

Polity Listing: 1105[edit]

Imperial Territory: 1105[edit]

This is an Imperial frontier area.

  • 85.00% is controlled by the Third Imperium.
  • 15.00% is controlled by non-Imperial powers.

Imperial Nobility[edit]

Notes: The presence of the Delphi Rift has blocked a fourth Duchy from forming. That area remains a Non-Aligned area of Imperial Fringe.

Trade Routes (Economic Astrography)[edit]

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this area:

Rifts, Voids & Jump Bridges[edit]

  • The Delphi Rift covers much of the trailing Delphi, forming a natural barrier to expansion.

The presence of the Delphi Rift kept this area from forming a higher stellar density when this part of Galaxias formed. The area is additionally known for a number of strange micro anomalies dotted throughout Delphian interstellar space known as the Delphic Anomalies. Some believe that these anomalies might be related to the Final War of the Ancients. Neither the Vilani under the Ziru Sirka nor the Terrans under the Rule of Man ever solved the mystery.

Sector Summary: 1105[edit]

The Delphi sector has 346 worlds with an estimated population of 594 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,153, and a total economy is BCr2,467,378. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr18,294 through 286 starports (58 Class A, 94 Class B, 93 Class C, 41 Class D) employing 3,508,795 people. Driving this interstellar trade are 35 Agricultural (Ag) worlds, 50 Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, 28 Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, 35 Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, 18 Rich (Ri) worlds, and 18 Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Delphi maintain 24 Naval bases, ten Scout bases, three Way stations, two Naval depots, and two Military bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 5 and 11). The highest technology level is 15 at Ainu (Delphi 1405), April Dawn (Delphi 1602), Navajo (Delphi 2110), Drinishok (Delphi 0723), Herodotus (Delphi 0823), and Vashtii (Delphi 0732).

The Delphi sector contains 499 stars and 3,798 identified planets; 202 monostellar systems, 135 binary systems, nine trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 309 of the 346 systems (89%) have native gas giants. There are 11 Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, 25 Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, 42 Poor (Po) worlds, 79 Vacuum (Va) worlds, and 11 Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Delphi has an estimated population of 594 billion distributed across 29 High population (Hi) worlds, 25 Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 189 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 63 Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Anaxias (Delphi 1724), Zzurvurh (Delphi 1019), Ader (Delphi 0605), Dunk (Delphi 0422), Cabot (Delphi 1536), and Ursalem (Delphi 1009). The population consists of 2 sophont groups.

Polities[edit]

Third Imperium, Domain of Sylea[edit]

The Third Imperium, Domain of Sylea has jurisdiction over 323 worlds with an estimated population of 593 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,160, and a total economy is BCr2,467,011. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr18,290 through 267 starports (54 Class A, 87 Class B, 87 Class C, 39 Class D) employing 3,508,025 people. Driving this interstellar trade are 34 Agricultural (Ag) worlds, 50 Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, 26 Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, 35 Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, 18 Rich (Ri) worlds, and 18 Industrial (In) worlds.
