Datsatl Sector was vaguely referred to in very early CT and MT publications.
 +
* It was named with no further data in the 1985 Zhodani (Alien Module).
 +
* A dot map of the sector was provided with the 1990 Alien - Vilani & Vargr
 +
* John G. Wood documented early data about the sector.
 +
* Author and fan Adrian Tymes has further developed the sector.

* As of 2019 CE, the sector is being further developed by a fan team.

From roughly -4000 to 1104, most sophonts in Charted Space thought this sector was a graveyard of civilizations, based on reports from a lateral offshoot of the First Core Expedition that entered found the dead Ogna Worlds and other more recently depopulated worlds (a result of the Yaskoydri Technocracy's First Doctrinal War). The scouts wrote the whole sector off, gave it a name that roughly translates to "Dead Sector", and left before whatever was leaving so many dead worlds could find them. The major polities of Charted Space were content to leave this far-off sector alone, never knowing that the Zhodani Consulate scouts had barely missed the Yaskoydri Technocracy.

This was just as well, because unknown to said polities, the Empress Wave was herding sophonts from coreward toward Charted Space. Measures had been taken to ensure that almost all of them would arrive at Datsatl Sector, running into and being absorbed or destroyed by the Technocracy. The Technocracy, meanwhile, stayed away, officially honor bound by Grandfather's ancient decree not to seek the origin world of humaniti, but in practice looking inward, gathering ever more of its population on Yaskoyloyt - which, by itself, carries more people than most sectors in Charted Space.

In 1104, knowledge of this sector began to spread through Charted Space thanks to an IISS scout obtaining and distributing star maps. Shortly thereafter, the Wave Chasers made contact with the Zhodani Consulate, resulting in zhodani traders travelling along the chain and ultimately to Yaskoyloyt starting in 1111.

The Yaskoydri Technocracy did not recognize sectors as Charted Space knows them until initial contact with the Solomani Preserve in (-1682. The subsectors were not formally named until 1063, at the suggestion of a delegate from the Preserve, and even then are mostly for Preserve-compatible star charts (which charts were smuggled back to the Third Imperium in 1104). Local star charts use different referents, and need translation for use with astrogation software common to the rest of Charted Space.

The Yaskoydri Technocracy (the only polity in Datsatl at the time) did not recognize sectors as Charted Space knows them until initial contact with the Solomani Preserve in -1682.  +

 +
Zhodani-compatible (and thus Imperial-compatible) star charts begin to see more use after the Wave Chasers contact the remnants of the Zhodani Consulate, and zhodani traders (with their star charts) begin visiting the Yaskoydri Technocracy in 1111. Ironically, these star charts largely carried data from the 1063 naming conference, leaked through the Third Imperium, with at least one documented instance of transfer happening as part of the Fifth Frontier War immediately prior to 1111.

Linguistic Topography: 1105
 +
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
 +
* Anglic (since introduction by the Solomani Preserve in 1)
 +
* Oynprith (spoken by the droyne of Oytriloyt and the Yaskoydri Technocracy since prior to -6000)
 +

 +
Yaskoyloyt also hosts records (and, in a few cases, speakers) of dozens of languages brought by immigrants from coreward. Zdetl was first introduced by Zhodani traders traveling to Yaskoyloyt in 1111, but remained uncommon even there, largely meeting the same fate at first. Unlike the other languages, though, Zdetl has a base of speakers elsewhere who would continue to bring their language. It remains to be seen if this will eventually yield any significant base.

By coincidence (as detailed in Solomani Preserve), as of 1105 most of the sophonts of this sector use the same year numbers as the Imperial Calendar. The Pirian Domain adopted the Solomani Preserve calendar shortly after 1, from which it spread to the other polities of this sector.

The general lack of long mains in this sector means that jump-2 is the commonly accepted standard minimum commercial capability.  While jump-1 ships are constructed, they are generally for local use only (or routinely fitted with drop tanks to cross a two parsec gap).

* Micro mains have provided a skeleton on which colonization has happened, over time.  As of 1105 this is particularly evident in the Yaskoydri Technocracy and the Tijian Expanse. Praytsirv Subsector's micro mains were previously used the same way, though the subsector is mostly uninhabited in 1105.

 +
| Although the Pirian Domain uses this area to keep the Tijian Khaganate from expanding in this direction, the Domain had expanded here before the Khaganate was created. As far as has been documented, Tiji was born and raised somewhere in this subsector, most likely on Goga Jo.

| This area was the fourth region the Wave Chasers colonized, starting in 1085. It is here, well away from the Pirian Domain (let alone the Solomani Preserve), where the Wave Chasers are breaching the sector border, headed for Zhodani space.

 +
| style="color: #000; background-color: #b8f" | Pirian Domain
 +
| Although the Tijian Expanse holds more worlds in this area, the Pirian Domain has more people and more practical control, in part because the Expanse worlds in this area are in sufficient conflict with each other to merit Amber Zone advisories. Most of this subsector is uninhabited.

| style="color: #000; background-color: #b8f" | Pirian Domain
 +
| The Pirian Domain worlds in this subsector were hit hard by the Empress Wave. Only three worlds in this subsector are populated at all, and of those, only one has a population of more than 100.

Meta-History & Background: 2019-0525[edit]

Datsatl Sector was vaguely referred to in very early Classic Traveller and MegaTraveller publications.

 1. In 1985, the Classic Traveller Zhodani (Alien Module) was published.
 2. In 1990, the MegaTraveller Alien - Vilani & Vargr was published.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

From roughly -4000 to 1104, most sophonts in Charted Space thought this sector was a graveyard of civilizations, based on reports from a lateral offshoot of the First Core Expedition that entered found the dead Ognar Worlds and other more recently depopulated worlds (a result of the Yaskoydri Technocracy's First Doctrinal War).

The Technocracy, meanwhile, stayed away, officially honor bound by Grandfather's ancient decree not to seek the origin world of humaniti, but in practice looking inward, gathering ever more of its population on Yaskoyloyt - which, by itself, carries more people than most sectors in Charted Space, not to mention over 95% of Datsatl's population as of 1105.

Toponyms: 1105[edit]

This region of space has been known by different names to different groups over its existence including the following:

Datsatl Sector Names
Culture Toponym Polity
Third Imperium Datsatl Third Imperium
Aslan Datsatl Aslan Hierate
Droyne Datsatl Droyne Oytrip Yatroy
Hiver Datsatl Hive Federation
K'kree Unknown Two Thousand Worlds
Solomani Datsatl Solomani Confederation
Vargr Datsatl Vargr Extents
Vilani Datsatl Third Imperium
Zhodani Datsatl Zhodani Consulate

The Yaskoydri Technocracy (the only polity in Datsatl at the time) did not recognize sectors as Charted Space knows them until initial contact with the Solomani Preserve in -1682.

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:

Yaskoyloyt also hosts records (and, in a few cases, speakers) of dozens of languages brought by immigrants from coreward. Zdetl was first introduced by Zhodani traders traveling to Yaskoyloyt in 1111, but remained uncommon even there, largely meeting the same fate at first. Unlike the other languages, though, Zdetl has a base of speakers elsewhere who would continue to bring their language. It remains to be seen if this will eventually yield any significant base.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

By coincidence (as detailed in Solomani Preserve), as of 1105 most of the sophonts of this sector use the same year numbers as the Imperial Calendar. The Pirian Domain adopted the Solomani Preserve calendar shortly after 1, from which it spread to the other polities of this sector.

Native Sophonts: 1105[edit]

The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this area:

This sector is not an Imperial possession.

 • 0.00% is controlled by the Third Imperium.
 • 100.00% is controlled by non-Imperial powers.

Few sophonts in this sector have even heard of the Second Imperium, let alone the Third Imperium.

Trade Routes (Economic Astrography)[edit]

The general lack of long mains in this sector means that jump-2 is the commonly accepted standard minimum commercial capability. While jump-1 ships are constructed, they are generally for local use only (or routinely fitted with drop tanks to cross a two parsec gap).

Subsector Listing: 1105[edit]

The following subsectors can be found within this sector:

Territorial Overview: 1105[edit]

The following table details the subsectors within this area:

Territorial Overview
Subsector Name Worlds /

Systems

Dominant Allegiance Remarks
Subsector A Aykrusk 26 Wave Chasers This area contains the starting world of the Wave Chasers, and is the source for much of the resupply for not yet self sufficient worlds down the chain.
Subsector B Yaskoy 20 Yaskoydri Technocracy This area contains Yaskoyloyt, and with it, nearly all of the sector's population.
Subsector C Astoa 23 Yaskoydri Technocracy This is a core area of the Yaskoydri Technocracy, partly due to its adjacency to Yadkoyloyt.
Subsector D Oldsafa 27 Yaskoydri Technocracy This is a frontier region of the Yaskoydri Technocracy, notable mainly for passing trade along to the Spike-Rho Route.
Subsector E Ayssath 17 Wave Chasers This area was the second region the Wave Chasers colonized, starting in 1059.
Subsector F Praytsirv 22 Yaskoydri Technocracy This is a frontier region of the Yaskoydri Technocracy.
Subsector G Void Border 8 Yaskoydri Technocracy This is a frontier region of the Yaskoydri Technocracy, up to the large void that dominates this sector. The Pirian Domain claims a single world on the far side of the void.
Subsector H Tijia 21 Tijian Khaganate This area contains the entirety of the Tijian Khaganate proper.
Subsector I Aydin 15 Wave Chasers This area was the third region the Wave Chasers colonized, starting in 1071. It also contains three of the long-dead Ognar Worlds.
Subsector J Ognar 29 Tijian Expanse This area is the core of the Tijian Expanse. It also contains most of the long-dead Ognar Worlds, including the apparent homeworld, Ognar.
Subsector K Onae Snae 19 Pirian Domain The Pirian Domain dominates this subsector in an unsuccessful attempt to keep the Tijian Khaganate from colonizing what is now the Tijian Expanse. Some of the Expanse's worlds are in this subsector too.
Subsector L Otwe 16 Pirian Domain Although the Pirian Domain uses this area to keep the Tijian Khaganate from expanding in this direction, the Domain had expanded here before the Khaganate was created. As far as has been documented, Tiji was born and raised somewhere in this subsector, most likely on Goga Jo.
Subsector M Aydirsoth 16 Wave Chasers This area was the fourth region the Wave Chasers colonized, starting in 1085. It is here, well away from the Pirian Domain (let alone the Solomani Preserve), where the Wave Chasers are breaching the sector border, headed for Zhodani space.
Subsector N Aydih 20 Tijian Expanse This is the a Tijian Expanse frontier area. Most of this subsector is uninhabited.
Subsector O Wauto 22 Pirian Domain Although the Tijian Expanse holds more worlds in this area, the Pirian Domain has more people and more practical control, in part because the Expanse worlds in this area are in sufficient conflict with each other to merit Amber Zone advisories. Most of this subsector is uninhabited.
Subsector P Hollows 17 Pirian Domain The Pirian Domain worlds in this subsector were hit hard by the Empress Wave. Only three worlds in this subsector are populated at all, and of those, only one has a population of more than 100.
