Dark Nebula Sector is the location of the Aslan home world, which lies at the very edge of Aslan space, rather than in the middle of a sphere of influence as is more common with other starfaring major races.

Meta-History & Background

Dark Nebula Sector was designed by Marc W. Miller in 1984 and appears in the Classic Traveller Atlas of the Imperium (GDW, 1984).

  1. In 1984, Aslan (Alien Module) was published.
  2. In 1989, parts of it appeared in the periodical Traveller's Digest No. 17 .
  3. In 1991, it was further refined by by Peter G. Celella and James Holden and appears in The MegaTraveller Alien, Volume 2: Solomani & Aslan (DGP, 1991).
  4. In 1999, GURPS Traveller: Alien Races 2 was published.
  5. In 2012, Mongoose Traveller: Solomani was published.

Description (Specifications)

(The Vilani spread mostly in one direction because of the limitations of jump-1 drive, but for most others, the stars were more evenly spread.) Most agree that this is because Aslan developed jump drive relatively late, and found that humans had already claimed most of the worlds to coreward and trailing of Kusyu.

  • It is noteworthy that in order to expand in the direction left open to them, Aslan had to develop jump-2 almost immediately after inventing jump drive. Many small clusters of Aslan worlds would be isolated with only jump-1 drive available.
