Dana has a breathable, habitable atmosphere and a reasonable amount of surface water. The system supports a population in the hundreds of thousands of sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Iiradu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Dana, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight and a baronet. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. During the Long Night this world was named Khermaasim.

Astrography and planetology

Dana is located on the Vilani Main. The naval base hosts elements of the 187th Fleet.

The atmosphere is perfectly breathable to humans, though many find the humidity uncomfortable especially in the hottest months.

Native Lifeforms: Kulaak & Quandos

The majority of Dana is taken over by water and some inhabitants have never set foot on land. The seas teem with small edible creatures and are host to a few large predators. The land areas are mostly cleared for crop production. A few inaccessible parts still accommodate the sprawling wet-wood forest. The Quandos is a small fish-like creature noted for both its flavor and mildly intoxicating effects. The tourist industry caters mainly for hunting expeditions for the large and fearsome Kulaak, a solitary predator normally quite placid until enraged by electric depth charges dropped to bring it to the surface.

History and background

Although not a large exporter of it Agricultural products Dana enjoys a high turnover of various types of trade and a thriving tourist industry. The native population is small, only a few hundred thousand, most of whom are nomadic wanderers on the vast oceans. The rest drive the farming machinery on those land areas to support agriculture, the fishing fleet to harvest the ocean, and the necessary support for interstellar trade.

The way of life pioneered by these original colonist is still followed in the form of huge floating arcologies. The structures were originally built from the trees, and now constructed of higher tech materials.

The three main population groups usually do not mix. The arcology inhabitants prefer a semi-idyllic existence drifting about the planet. They make their incomes catching the Quandos, a small fish-like creature noted for both its flavor and mildly intoxicating effects. Tourist goods and other sea creatures make up the rest of the income.

The land and sea based farming communities are very much small groups, often located away from the others. This has led to a sheltered, independent spirit amongst them. They meet with outsiders only when produce is brought to Danorkas, the single city. These small communities rely on traveling lawyers and locally elected judges to maintain order.

Danorkas is the center of Dana's off-world existence. With the starport next door, it provides markets for Dana's produce and a center for tourists. A major hardware import is the specialized farming machinery produced on Aadshas.

Dana also boasts a naval training facility, teaching advanced techniques for marine personnel involving planetary assault and various submarine and survival activities.

Those who live on Niizediju do so with the use of materials technology imported from Dana.
