History & Background (Dossier)
In 587 Imperial, the Sheik-backed faction of Bravo (Empty Quarter 1520)’s civil war was relocated to this system. It was declared an Imperial Client State, and an ‘early warning’ Imperial naval base was established over strong Julian protests. Continuous ‘pirate’ attacks drove the Imperium to hand over the base to the local government, and rescind the Client State status in 600. This hasn’t helped much. Currently, the base is the preferred training ground to bloody Starmerc and (before the Solomani Rim War) Imperial Naval warships.
Despite her isolated position, Corsabren (occasionally referred to as ‘Corsabren Base’ by some inhabitants) receives a good deal more than her fair share of ‘pirate attacks’ - especially since the ‘pirates’, given the choice to capture a big fat slow trader or take a whack at the naval base, prefer to hit the base more than half the time. The handover of the base to the local government in 600 - who hired Imperial starmercs to run the installation - hasn’t helped much. In time, it became the preferred battleground to bloody green starmerc and naval crews.
