Cordoba (Al 2011) is a nonindustrial fluid world.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
  • This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • It is a member of the Grand United States of Quesada, which is a member state of the Solomani Confederation, in the Quesada Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Cordoba is small, cold world that is technically tidally locked to its star, though it is far enough away to make such gravitational interplay minimal.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

Cordoba has an ocean of liquid nitrogen which mostly covers the cold side of the planet. Nitrogen vapor does spill over the twilight ridge into the warm side, resulting in a 1 atm zone on the cold side. In this area, an oxygen supply is needed, but other than that, just very warm clothing.

The pressure drops quickly as you cross the ridge and becomes a thin atmosphere as you reach the base, and a full vaccsuit is needed to go further than a kilometer sunward.

World Starport[edit]

Cordoba does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

This lack of starport is intentional. As a religious retreat, landings are rigidly scheduled with strict interaction protocols.

World Technology Level[edit]

Cordoba possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government[edit]

Cordoba has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law Level[edit]

Cordoba has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
