CFI is currently involved in high level research and development projects in artificial intelligence, and is unofficially said to have already developed prototype models of cybernetic units.
- These self thinking computers could be used, it is speculated, in human-hazardous situations such as conducting long range hyperspace jumps or directing the exploratory and terraforming operations of the new colonization projects in the Inverness Subsector and elsewhere.
