Description[edit]

Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans, the seeds of berries from certain Coffea species.

Coffee is darkly colored, bitter, slightly acidic and has a stimulating effect in Humans, primarily due to its caffeine content.

Coffee bushes require warm Worlds with adequate rainfall and good sunlight - Preferably from stars in the range G0 to G5. The water needs to be relatively untainted because the berries can concentrate many impurities and this will adversely affects flavour. The farmers then process the berries to give the coffee beans or granules most people will recognise.

Coffee may be purchased as dried granules that may be steeped in water to give a good quality beverage, or as roasted beans that need grinding before the steeping process can occur. The latter is generally a more expensive option because of the cachet associated with the act of coffee grinding, and the quality of beans used in that process.

History[edit]

It was long said that if you looked into the Ships of the Imperial Navy you would find Coffee in the fuel tanks. Introduced by the Solomani to any planet where it would grow in order to supply their navy in the Interstellar Wars, this beverage is now widespread throughout Charted Space.
