The Ciri class Laboratory Ship is a TL–12 research starship.
Description[edit]
Awarded to particularly deserving I'Sred*Ni Technicians for the continued research of a particular subject, the Ciri is a fairly standard example of a small research vessel. Constructed at TL–12, the ship displaces 400 tons. The hull is unarmoured and unstreamlined. Capable of Jump-2 and 1 g manoeuvre, the ship has no Agility points, but a generous overspill of power points for use in research. A model/3 computer is used for the ship's own needs; several extra model/2 computers are entirely committed to research use. The sensor and communication packages vary depending upon the type of research the ship is engaged on. The ship requires a crew of 7, but can carry up to 6 more research staff. The Ciri is unarmoured and unarmed. One 20-ton launch is provided; vehicles are sometimes loaded into this for ground exploration.
The Ciri is usually fitted with a 7-seat coalescence room as standard; if the research the ship is involved in concerns psionics, a larger coalescence room may replace this.
History & Background[edit]
They were designed by Ace Dog Industries for the Sred*Ni to carry out research and exploration.
