Cephet is a low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment .
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Aredian Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Outland Run Star Lane.

System Data
Benner System
The primary is Benner, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 11.26 Sols, a mass of 1.86 Sols, and a diameter of 2.421 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a hot small gas giant, and (V) an exotic atmosphere bigworld – orbital positions (I), (III) and (IV) are empty. (VI) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world orbits within the habitable zone. (VII) a ringed large gas giant, and (VIII) a small ice giant form the outer system. The outer worlds retain satellites.
Orgon-Cephet Subsystem
The companion is Orgon, a yellow subdwarf star lying approximately 2,200 AU from Benner. It has a luminosity of 0.213 Sols, a mass of 0.542 Sols, and a diameter of 896,000 km. The inner system consists of (I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (II) Cephet orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (III) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, and (IV) a small gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(II) Cephet
(II) Cephet is designated the mainworld. It orbits Orgon at a mean distance of 0.38 AU (56.8 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 116 days 5 hours: it is tidally locked to [primary]. The axial tilt is 4 degrees. Cephet has a diameter of 9,985 km, a density of 5.78 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.82 G. The world is geologically very active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 12.4 bar and a composition of 95% nitrogen (N2), 3% carbon dioxide (CO2), 1% nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and carbon monoxide (CO), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), methane (CH4), neon (Ne), abiotic oxygen (O2), and other trace gases. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -43°C. The climate is rated as Very Cold and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is very active and powerful weather systems driven by the star scour the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 313 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Benner System
No world in the system is known to have native life.
Orgon-Cephet Subsystem
No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)

World starport
Cephet has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Cephet possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World government
Cephet has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
