Crew Deck[edit]

Sensor Bay[edit]

Main aerials and processors. Access via a crawlspace under the Bridge Control Console. This includes the densitometer, main RADAR and passive EMS systems and the lower LADAR. It also includes some Jammer transmitters.

Bridge and Forward Corridor[edit]

Three control stations:

  1. Pilot
  2. Co-Pilot/Astrogator/Sensors
  3. Gunner/Sensors

The controls are fully holographic and the configurations can be altered to the preferences of the person sitting in the main chair.

The bridge is radiation hardened.

The airlock and ships locker are accessible directly from the bridge. This is convenient for the crew but it does mean that any passengers have to pass directly through the main control spaces to embark or disembark, and there is a frequent, but unnecessary, traffic of crew onto the bridge for spares and equipment. Relocating the locker's door and airlock - and making the forward corridor a separate space - was recommended in the prototype's post-trials analysis. It didn't happen.

Airlock[edit]

Standard imperial airlock.

Ships Locker[edit]

A significant volume for the storage of equipment for missions, life-support and passenger comfort. The door to the locker is restricted-access and only crew may order it opened.

Crew-Room and Main Corridor[edit]

The Crew-Room is Galley, Mess and Wardroom; Main Briefing Room and General Utility Area.

Bulkheads include storage for dried foodstuffs, clothes washing/drying facilities and life-support spares.

Starboard-Aft is the Galley Space: including a coffee-pot.

Starboard is the main table and seating. This has a holo-projector over it for mission briefing or general entertainment purposes.

Port there is a sofa area and a treadmill for exercise. There is also a small workstation.

Forward on the centre-line is the access to the Forward Corridor; Aft along the centre-line is the main corridor through the accommodation and into the cargo bay.

Port and Starboard are the access ports to the port and starboard turrets/magazines.

Port Turret & Magazine[edit]

A mount with a Sandcaster and a Beam Laser. The magazine for the Sandcaster holds 10 barrels (20 total), but is not easily accessible for reload while in space.

Starboard Turret & Magazine[edit]

As port turret: although access is marginally better for reloads it is still not great.

Accommodation[edit]

6 staterooms each with a double bunk and individual fresher, locker space, work-table, holographic work-station and chair.

Numbered Port and Starboard, Forward to Aft these are usually allocated to:

  1. Captain
  2. First Officer
  3. Gunner & Medic
  4. Engineer and Mechanic
  5. 1-2 Passengers
  6. 1-2 Passengers
Cargo Bay[edit]

Small cargo bay. One end is configured as a cargo lift. Note that the lift cannot take standard 1ton containers and thus all cargo would normally be accepted only on pallets.

Engineering (Lower)[edit]

Contains the Jump Drive and an engineering work-station. The deck is well laid out and access for maintenance is straight-forward.

Drive Deck[edit]

Aerials Space[edit]

Further aerials (mostly for Jammers), top side Cameras and LADAR system. Access is via two small pressure-hatches in the ceiling of the crew-common room.

Fuel Scoops and Purifiers[edit]

Contains fuel-scoops and purifiers. Access is via a hatch in the main corridor.

Powerplant, Battery & Manoeuvre[edit]

Contains the powerplant and backup battery and an engineering work-station. Also holds the manoeuvre-drive. This is actually a relatively cramped space making work on the drives "more awkward than might be considered ideal".

Hull Information[edit]

The Hull is a 200 dTon, Streamlined, Self-Sealing, Bonded-Superdense laminate.

It has Stub-Aerofins that make the vessel quite manoeuvrable in atmospheres, but do not provide significant lift.

The hull is armoured and has a stealth coating that allows the exterior colouration to alter and IR emissions to be selectively altered/suppressed for a limited period.

External Fittings and Fixtures[edit]

The ship has a 4-point landing system based on landing pads. Ground movement without power will require dolly-jacks to be supplied. The pads extend to 52m2 giving a ground pressure of approximately 50 tonnes/m2.

On the port side, just aft of the port rear landing gear well are fittings for cryo-hoses for loading fuel at starports. Under the crew lounge sofa seating area, just aft of the port forward landing gear are fittings for starport power and data. Just aft of the forward landing gear are fittings for fresh-water loading, and 3m further aft of that are fittings for foul-water discharge. All these fittings are protected by external panels.

12. Remarks Other Equipment:

Issues:

  • Stealth coating is damaged.
  • Starboard pop-up turret can jam in the "Up" position.
  • Aerodynamics are impaired when the turrets are deployed. Turrets can overheat due to air-friction at higher velocities.
  • Jump Drive offline from 1111 to 1132 and reconditioning undertaken in haste.
  • Temperature settings tend to "Slip" causing the interior to cool at about 1 degree per hour unless the sensors are reset

Additional Issue as at 001-1138:

  • The vessel is nose-down in a hole in a jungle with the powerplant having shutdown after a hit from an unlocated battery while manoeuvring at low altitude.
