Cabon is a poor, preindustrial, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It lacks the population and means to expand its economy at this point in time.
- It is a member of the Kingdom of Peladon in the Evalren Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Cabon is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Cabon is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Cabon has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Cabon has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.
Satellites[edit]
Cabon retains two small vacuum moons.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native lifeforms are cryophilic - they thrive in low temperatures.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Cabon is a busy commercial center with a thriving economy and an advancing technological base.
- The system has been settled for centuries.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
A number of businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively heavy: ships frequently arrive and depart.
- Commo is buzzing with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Cabon has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
The starport is the private property of the Kingdom of Peladon. It is operated and run by the Kingdom.
World Population (P)[edit]
Cabon has a population of 300,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Cabon possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Cabon is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
World Military[edit]
Cabon Defense Force
Cabon has an extensive local navy, fielding approximately three hundred monitors as well as various other smaller vessels.
- These vessels are divided into thirty squadrons each of ten vessels.
Monitors and other vessels manufactured on Cabon serve throughout the Kingdom.
- 13 squadrons perform "Outworld Service" on a cycling basis: they are transported to other systems within the Kingdom to support their local defense forces.
- 14 squadrons remain within the home system.
- 2 squadrons act as a "Special Service Force" within the Futrick system, beyond the Kingdom's borders.
- 1 squadron is kept as a training and reserve unit.
Cabon class Monitors are carried to their destination systems by Distribution class Commercial Carriers that operate as part of the RPN.
World Law (L)[edit]
Cabon has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
- Infrastructure: 8 (generally available)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 9 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 8 (friendly)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
