Biotechnology is an alternate technology base using devices, gadgets, and other technological paraphernalia created from organic and often living materials instead of inorganic, mechanical materials. [1]
In their origin most of these items are creatures found to perform useful tasks and can be trained or adopted to these tasks. At higher technology levels many of these tools and devices are the results of Genetic Engineering, specifically created to serve in a role.
