The star Beta Eridani (otherwise known as Cursa or Kursa or Dhalim) is a blue-white borderline subgiant-giant star of spectral type A3 that is well on its way to the giant phase of its evolution.

Description (Specifications)

  • The position and trajectory of Beta Eridani seem to suggest that it is a member of the Ursae Major supergroup; however, there is a certain amount of evidence that it may in fact be an interloper within the group.
  • The Beta Eridani star system lies approximately 27.4pc from Terra, and is located in a Rimward direction from Terra at bearing 205.3o Galactic Longitude and -25.3o South Galactic Latitude.

History & Background (Dossier)

The relationship (if any) between this star and the precursor race known as the Kursae is uncertain. It is certainly unlikely that a star as young as Beta Eridani would be the world of origin of any advanced life forms.

Beta Eridani is the primary star of the world Beta Eridani/Kursa (Aldebaran 3111).
