Beasen is a preindustrial water world.
- Its surface is 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Abidal Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
- This world lies within the Rissa Gateway region.

System data
The primary is Trallis, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a distant companion, Gorph, a red subdwarf lying approximately 2100 AU distant. The inner system consists of (I, III, IV) three small rocky vacuum worlds – orbital position (II) is empty. (V) Beasen is nominated the mainworld and orbits within the habitable zone. The outer zone consists of (VI) a large exotic atmosphere world, (VII, VIII) two large gas giants, (IX) a small gas giant, and (X) a small icy outer world. Most of the worlds in the outer system retain families of satellites.
Gorph subsystem
The companion is Gorph, an ordinary red subwarf star, lying approximately 2100 AU from the primary. It retains a family of (I) a sparse icy planetoid Belt, (II) a small gas giant, and (III) a large exotic atmosphere world. Both of the worlds retain families of satellites.
(V) Beasen
(V) Beasen is designated the mainworld. It orbits Apilis at a mean distance of 1.6 AU (238.7 million km), it has an orbital period of 645 days 22 hours, and a rotation period of 24.75 hours. The axial tilt is 13.5 degrees. Beasen has a diameter of 13,576 km, a density of 5.91 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.14 G. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a surface pressure of 2.08 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% argon, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. The atmosphere is tainted with pollens originating from aquatic flora. Approximately 98% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.75m. Mean surface temperature: 22°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems, driven by the star and the oceans, sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.
Mainworld geography and topography
The Mare Infinitum, the Endless Sea, is divided into a number of different pelagic zones. The ocean is shallower around the equator and deepest around the tropics. Small icecaps are located at the poles. A series of large islands and archipelagos straddle the equator and form the only dry land on the surface.

World starport
Beasen has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Beasen possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World government
Beasen is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
