Basternevis is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ownsbee Subsector of Gateway Sector.
Description
A polluted world that has seen a prior civilization collapse.

History & Background (Dossier)
Basternevis is the original homeworld of the sophonts known as the Capry, or the "Remnant". Extinct on Basternevis itself after their ecology collapsed due to excess industrialization, they are found today in small communities scattered across Gateway Sector.
A modest TL-8 society of Human colonists exists today on Basternevis, though the planet has barely recovered from the Capry collapse.
The Mische Conglomerate is engaged in serious political intrigues and negotiations with this world, with the intent of incorporating it into the Conglomerate.
Urbanization
Most of the 500,000 inhabitants live in a cluster of towns in the centre of the largest continent. Sheltered by a tall mountain range to the west, this area has cleaner air than most of the planet.
