  • Description (Specifications)

Barges are system craft, boats designed to range a star system performing useful work. Some barges are used as subcraft off a tender, while many are based out of highports or space stations. Some perform ferry duties from a mainworld to a mining or farming colony on a non-mainworld planet. Jump ferries and shuttles are not included in this category. Barges were once historically categorized as towed vessels lacking independent propulsion, but contempory barges in Charted Space are almost always equipped with maneuver drives or other forms of propulsion.
