Bain is a rich water world with a moderate population over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- Its surface is 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- Most observers think that the planet's economy and population will prosper in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Bain Subsector of Spica Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Part of the Solomani Confederation. It is the subsector capital with the highest population and technology level; it is, however, also the only Solomani world in the subsector.
The surface gravity is 0.91 G's, and the atmospheric pressure is 1.21 atmospheres. The core of molten iron yields a planetary density of 5.67 g/ml. The climate is cool and the planet orbits 0.71 AU from its primary.

Mainworld Geography & Topography
Bain has three major continents, two of which straddle the equator. Several large archipelagos lie off the continents' shores. North and south polar ice-caps, anchored by island groups, cover about 15% of the total world surface.

World Starport
Bain has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level
Bain possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government
Bain has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Military
A squadron of warships are stationed here. They are manufactured here at the orbital shipyards at the local TL-10. The Bain Defense Squadron is composed of several local designs, contracted from native naval architects. The shipyards are rarely used for military ship building. There is 800,000 tons of capacity.
Military Forces
There are 1,500 battalions for self defense.
