Badu is a poor, nonindustrial desert world with no free-standing water.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Vilani Protectorate in the Clatt Subsector of Matzen Sector.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
- Badu has an orbital period of 447.12 standard days.
- The planet has a rotational period of 34.23 hours.
- Badu has an axial tilt of 5 degrees.
- The average surface temperature of Badu is 137c / 279f
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Badu is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
- The planet has a diameter of 7309 miles / 11763 kilometres
- Badu has a molten core with a density of 0.96 standard
- The surface gravity of Badu is 0.84 of standard and the world is therefore listed as a normal gravity world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Badu has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- The atmosphere of Badu is listed as "Thin and breathable without protection".
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Badu has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
- With less than 2% of the planet having any water there is no free standing water anywhere on the planets surface.
- Water is drawn from the atmosphere by extensive moisture farms and from deep under the planets surface.
- Water in drinking form is a commodity that is carefully managed and regulated as supplies to huge tanks are maintained via interstellar traders.
Satellites:[edit]
- Badu has no satellites in orbit.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
- The planetary surface of Badu is covered in desert and bare rock faced mountains. The surface is scorched dry by the constant extreme heat and the planet would have remained completely uninhabited if it hadnt been for the chance discovery of ores, gems and crystals that can be used in many of the high tech industries of a space faring society.
- Although living outside on the surface is impossible colonist prospectors have established urban areas by creating townships partially dug into the planets surface and covered in heat resistent domes. These "domed citadels" are located across the planets surface and are usually in very close vicinity to the natural resources the prospectors are hoping to exploit.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
- Badu has no native life and the exteme of heat that exist means survival on the surface without protection is impossible.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
Protectorate Nobility (N)[edit]
Badu, as a member world of the Vilani Protectorate, holds the estate of one member of the politys Nobility, who is charged with overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of a Protectorate knight.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Badu has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The main starport has extensive facilities for small "tanker" vessels to bring in the much need water supplies for the planets population.
- In addition to the storage tanks there are also regular warehouses and a large maintenance facility to carry out repairs on the vital "tanker fleet".
Facilities[edit]
Port facilities within the system include:
- Badu itself has one Class B starport serving the planet, however the majority of the "domed citadels" maintain small space port facilities mainly to allow small trader ships to deliver vital supplies speedily across the planets surface.
- Most of the "citadels" maintain some level of warehousing and admin facilities along with basic maintenance capabilities.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Badu possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]
Badu is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Military[edit]
- The planet has no standing military force and relies on the Vilani Protectorate for military protection. Each "domed citadel" maintains its own security in relation to protection of the citizen who live within it.
World Law (L)[edit]
Badu has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 7 (generally available)
- Efficiency: +2 (good)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: +1 (ordinary)
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Badu has a population of approximately c.500,000
Urbanization[edit]
- Large starport facility with extensice downport and associated civilian population.
- Across the planets surface are several domed citadels usually located near to extensive ore and gem prospecting facilities. Early industrialisation starting to appear but not yet on a significant scale.
