Axasorsa is a high-population, pre-rich, agricultural garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts and a billion or more sophonts in population size..

  • Nearly 100% of the population is composed of Jellyfish.
  • Less than 10% of the population is composed of baseline humans and other non-human sophonts.

System Data

Sacrent-Axasorsa System

The primary is Sacrent, an ordinary yellow-white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 2.126 Sols, a mass of 1.144 Sols, and a diameter of 1.639 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere inner world, (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (III) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world. (IV) Axasorsa orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VI) a ringed very large gas giant, and (VII) a large gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Lisio Subsystem

The companion is Lisio, a dim red subdwarf star that lies approximately 4,100 AU from Sacrent. It has a luminosity of 0.00054 Sols, a mass of 0.07 Sols, and a diameter of 91,500 km. (I) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (II) a small gas giant form the outer system. Only the gas giant retains satellites.

Mainworld Data

(IV) Axasorsa

(IV) Axasorsa is designated the mainworld. It orbits Sacrent at a mean distance of 1.1 AU (164.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 29 days and a rotation period of 28.5 hours. The axial tilt is 17 degrees. Axasorsa has a diameter of 10,384 km, a density of 6.28 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.93 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 1.48 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 22% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 73% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 23°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the ocean sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellite

Axasorsa retains a single natural satellite, a vacuum worldlet named Vaber:

(IVa) Vaber (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 20 Diameters/210,000 km)

Mainworld Geography & Topography

Total surface area: 339 million km², Water surface area: 247 million km², Land surface area: 92 million km². There are small polar ice caps.

Native Lifeforms

The hot marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (III) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

Axasorsa, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. The continents are largely virgin wilderness, but the oceans – particularly the benthic zones along equatorial coastlines – are extensively developed.

History & Background / Dossier

Notes

The world's name is almost certainly a result of poor data management. It appears to refer to Lieutenant Axel Sorsa, the commander of the Range Valentine, a Third Confederation-era survey vessel known to have been operating in the area during the 37th century. Records from the time indicate the chief surveyor within the system to have been one "Sorsa's World".

World Starport

Axasorsa has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Technology Level

Axasorsa possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.

World Government

Axasorsa has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
