Nasta-Avail System

The primary is Nasta, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.102 Sols, a mass of 1.02 Sols, and a diameter of 1.399 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (II) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, and (III) Avail, designated the mainworld. (IV-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (IV-II) an exotic atmosphere hospitable world have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (V) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI) a ringed large gas giant, (VII) a small gas giant, (VIII) a very large gas giant, and (IX) a ringed large gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(III) Avail

(III) Avail is designated the mainworld. It orbits Nasta at a mean distance of 0.79 AU (118.2 million km), within the H– region of the inner system. It has an orbital period of 253 days 23 hours and a rotation period of 54 hours. The axial tilt is 25 degrees. Avail has a diameter of 13,106 km, a density of 6.12 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.14 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.13 bar and a composition of 67% nitrogen (N₂), 32% oxygen (O₂), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Avail is a water world, with approximately 98% of the surface covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1.1m. Mean surface temperature: 32°C. The atmosphere is very active and violent weather systems driven by the star and the oceans scour the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Avail retains a single natural satellite, a very thin atmosphere hospitable world named Fortunat:

Native Lifeforms

Avail, the mainworld, lying within the H– region of the inner system, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

• Fortunat, Avail's hot marginally hospitable desert moon has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
