Conditions on this world are both harsh and baffling. The planet as a whole appears to have been distorted into an [[ellipsoid]]al shape in the geologically recent past. What is more puzzling is that there is no nearby [[moon]] or [[gas giant]] which could have caused the distortion, and there is no indication of a recent impact on the surface. The planetary crust has been shattered, and measurements indicate cataclysmic tremors on the surface as the planet “relaxes” to a spherical shape through its own self-gravity. Orbital surveys also show unusual density anomalies.

Anomaly is a moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size. This world contains an archaeological site with artifacts suspected to be from the now-vanished Ancients. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Argi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Anomaly, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. 100% of the world's population is the Major Race Droyne. During the Long Night this world was named Gaishnen.

Astrography and planetology

Conditions on this world are both harsh and baffling. The planet as a whole appears to have been distorted into an ellipsoidal shape in the geologically recent past. What is more puzzling is that there is no nearby moon or gas giant which could have caused the distortion, and there is no indication of a recent impact on the surface. The planetary crust has been shattered, and measurements indicate cataclysmic tremors on the surface as the planet “relaxes” to a spherical shape through its own self-gravity. Orbital surveys also show unusual density anomalies.

History and background

Since the system is in a little-travelled side branch of the Dagudashaag Main, it is only since the mid-700s that the IISS has made any significant effort to investigate the planet. The Scouts also provide technical support (in a somewhat halfhearted fashion) to the several Droyne oytrip present in-system. Some of the Droyne research the planet, whilst others undertake small-scale mining in-system. The IISS have only just begun to realize the significance of the system.

Point of Interest: Super-technology Cables

An expedition to the planet’s surface in 1112 made an astonishing discovery - an array of “cables” some 1700 km long, buried in the planetary crust at a depth of about 4.0m. The cables are composed of monadium, the same material as was found at the Ancient base on Antiquity (Corridor 0816).
