Anghaeghz has the population located in one or more dwarf planets or planetesimals in a co-orbital position, an asteroid belt. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a Vargr dominated Non-Aligned world in the Dzighkafe Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

History & Background (Dossier)

When observatories of the Democracy of Greats caught sight of the dimming and snuffing of a White Dwarf some many parsecs away and had little to show it reappearing, perhaps from an eclipsing body, it was determined that it had been accreted by the Black Hole of Anghaeghz (Knoellighz 1405) D00038B-2, (now coded with As Lo Lt), and was named such. Its name translates from Gvegh to Galanglic as “Devourer”. After some further observation of the system from afar, astronomers were able to predict mathematically the maximum event horizon of the Black Hole’s accretion disk. From that dreadful boundary a 100 Diameters jump point distance was further determined through Astrogation computations.

The first exploration vessel to Anghaeghz misjumped, presumably into the system and was never seen or heard from again. The second starship entered Anghaeghz safely from just outside the system’s remaining Oort Cloud and had to approach the remnants of the system on instrumentation, through the cloud, as there was no light source. The second Vargr surveyors of this Dzighkafe Subsector world then found on the outermost orbits the remnants of a dead, rocky planet fragmented into a planetoid belt far outside the event horizon of the Black Hole. Later corrections were measured locally to determine and demarcate with a navigation beacon the best 100 Diameters jump point just inside the Oort Cloud.

Technically a Doomed world with an average Tech Level of 2 and a Tech deficiency of -6, (widely accepted as an inaccurate report); the Black Hole continues to consume the rest of the system’s mass. Vessels, crews and the new research outpost at 100 Diameters must remain behind constant shielding from the x-radiation emitted by the collapsar. Only the outpost and resupplying vessels and a few, dangerously-curious belter starships are found in this world.

As of 1105, the outpost continues to monitor the Black Hole for study as Courier vessels send back the collected data to the Democracy of Greats. Belters continue to carefully pick through the remnant planetoids for choice elements and minerals.
