Amamni has both an unbreathable thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Sapphyre Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Amamni, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Kagirvlish.

This world lies on the Sylean Main. It serves as the connector to the Dagudashaag Main.

Amamni is a small frozen world with an extremely high degree of volcanic activity and almost no mineral wealth.

History and background

Amamni was originally colonized for the sole purpose of acting as a secret Medurma Pact supply base for privateers during the Aakhri Wars. The planet was evacuated shortly after and remained abandoned until 198.

The base was reopened to act as a quarantine hospice for the sufferers of the parasite Charonaei VSR. Initially it was thought that stranding the infected here would speed up their deterioration while maintaining the facade of medical care. However, the widely mutating organism stabilized on Amamni. By placing the infected on the planet the disease was slowed so that it might take thirty years or more before it killed its host. The fungal infection hardened into a coral-like substance which resulted in a death by suffocation. The violent schizophrenic response (VSR) phase was found to pass within a month of arriving.

Survivors were also though to be sterile but those that survived the VSR phase discovered this was only temporary and they could, and did, have have children. These offspring, initially immune to the disease, were highly infectious and faced activation when the reached later stages in their life. Initially the medical teams sterilized new patients to prevent the spread of the Charonaei but, after the press got a hold of the story in 234, patients were allowed to have and raise children.

The descendants of the original hospice continue to inhabit the planet, maintaining contact with the uncontaminated through sophisticated robots who run the port.

Recurring VSR outbreaks have prevented the formation of any permanent governmental structure outside the family unit. There is little or no communication between these units and an extreme mistrust exists. No Amamni will attempt to leave the planet since it would re-activate the dormant disease and kill them within a week. All the Amamni and Ghasaak are required by law to have identchips inserted into their cranium at birth to identify them. All traffic through the system is are dealt with by orbital stations and there is little reason for visitors to go to planetary surfaces.
