Akimu is a high population industrial world with a population over a billion sophonts. There is an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mimu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Lancian Cultural Region and the Domain of Vland. Akimu, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel.  

Astrography and planetology

Akimu has a high gravity, retains a hot atmosphere consisting of nitrogen, chlorine and carbon dioxide and is covered in oceans that are a noxious chemical brew closely related to the atmosphere.

History and background

The vast majority of the population are S'mrii, although there are Human enclaves in most of the tunnel cities. The Miak’sh (the Grand Senate) is made up of Elders who have served in the government. New members are chosen for their abilities and wield considerable powers.

On Akimu self sufficiency is stressed above all else. Vast areas of the uplands (which receive more sunlight) are covered by hydroponic farms that grow the world’s food. The lowlands are the site of chemical synthesis plants where complex compounds are extracted from the oceans and converted into plastics and fabrics. All rubbish is recycled and it is a criminal offense to waste or litter. The Kira, the local police force, rigidity enforce what off-worlders call the Garbage Laws.
