History & Background (Dossier)
Aegadh was the capital of the old Khouktae Empire before it was absorbed into the Gvurrdon Pact, which in turn collapsed around –2300. For over 3,000 years, the leadership on Aegadh frequently changed until the Church of the Chosen Ones founded a community here in 986 and established control of the planet. The Church has remained the ruling power despite numerous attempts to push them out of power by other factions.
The planetary government does not levy any taxes, but does collect regular tithes from Church faithful and any other residents of the system.
The Church does not tolerate any activities of which it does not approve. Police supervision of the populace is almost constant, and infractions are dealt with severely. Fortunately, there are few things which can be said to be "anti-Church," so the population does enjoy a relatively high freedom, notwithstanding the continual intrusion of police into private affairs.
