Abidal is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Abidal Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System data
The primary is Stare, a gigantic red giant star. It has a luminosity of 2,485 Sols, a mass of 8.3 Sols and a diameter of 409 million km, extending into orbital position (IV). The inner system consists of (IV) a large extremely hot gas giant orbiting very close to the surface of the star, and (VIII) a sparse stony planetoid belt – orbital positions (V), (VI) and (VII) are empty. (IX) The Abidal main belt orbits in the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (X, XI) two rocky vacuum worlds, (XII) a large exotic atmosphere world, and (XII, XIV) two icy vacuum worlds form the outer system. All of the worlds in the system retain small satellites.
