The Gvuekh Cluster
No information yet available.

The Gvuekh Cluster lies at the core of the Disjuncture. It is a trade route running primarily between Voenggaks Subsector and Kishadiku Subsector, as well as including a few worlds on the rimward edge of Sunggoe Subsector and a single world in Khuulu Subsector of Mendan Sector. It is a small Main.

* The Disjuncture lies at the far spinward end of the main.

Windhorn Chain Jump Bridge
 +
The Windhorn Chain is the name given to a proposed jump route across the Windhorn Rift. Any ships using it would have to pass through Disjuncture territory.
 +

 +
The concept is to construct a jump bridge, consisting of one or more deep space refuelling facilities located within Uroez Subsector, deep within the rift.
 +
* The jump bridge would facilitate trade and travel between Provence Sector and Lair, the Vargr homeworld, and the Vargr-dominated sectors to trailing.
 +

 +
Two variant proposals exist: a jump-4 bridge and a jump-6 bridge.

Objections to the concept as proposed include:
 +
* It would incur massive expenditure and require considerable amounts of materials to set up and get operational.
 +
* It would require advanced ships, as well as support and maintenance facilities to keep them running. Few such ships are available within the extents.
 +

 +
Ownership and control of the proposed route is a contentious topic and negotiations to resolve it have been extremely fraught. The trailing end of the jump bridge would be anchored on Kagha, a member of the Disjuncture, while the spinward end would most likely pass through either Uethknal or Voagour, both within the Empire of Varroerth. Each side sees the other as corrupt and dangerous.
 +
* On more than one occasion negotiations have descended into violence.
 +

 +
Despite these issues Gzugzo Lines, a major shipping interest within the sector, continues to support the idea.
 +

 +
Many believe that the jump bridge, in one of its two proposed forms, already exists.

 +
Demographics
 +
The total population of the Disjuncture is estimated at 116 billion sophonts.
 +

 +
Significant populations of the following sophont races reside within its borders:
 +

 +
* Terragens (Non-human Terran races)
 +
** Vargr (Major Race): the majority population within the sector.
 +

 +
* Humaniti (Human Races)
 +
** Mixed heritage (Major Race): sparsely distributed across the sector.
 +
** Solomani (Major Race): sparsely distributed across the sector.
 +
** Vilani (Major Race): mainly found within those parts of the sector that were formerly part of the Ziru Sirka.

Linguistic Topography
 +
The following languages are among the most commonly heard:
 +
* Ovaghoun: the primary tongue of the Disjuncture and the neighbouring Ngath Confederation.
 +
* Logaksu: most commonly spoken as a second language. It is the main language of the Empire of Varroerth.
 +
* Mavek Errgh: The most common of the many local Vargr languages.

Major events that have affected this polity and the wider region that it lies within:
 +
* circa -10,000: The Hhkar begin to disperse from their homeworld. Some eventually settle in what will become Disjuncture territory.
 +
* -9235: the Vilani discover jump technology and begin to spread into the area.
 +
* ca -8100: surviving records indicate wandering Vilani have established settlements within the rimward regions of the sector. There is trade amongst their worlds.

* -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
 +
* -3810: the Vargr discover jump technology and begin an era of expansion.
 +
* -2404 to -2215: the human Interstellar Wars rage to rimward. The region becomes increasingly neglected.
 +
* -2400s: Vargr raiding into the region significantly increases. This becomes known as the Vargr Pillaging.
 +
* -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man nominally administers the rimward worlds of the region. Conflicts escalate between Vargr and humans as the Vargr occupy former Ziru Sirka territory.
 +
* circa -1700: Vargr rimward expansion gradually ceases: the border between human and Vargr space stabilizes.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The 17th Disjuncture is a Vargr polity lying within Windhorn Sector, on the rimward edge of the Vargr Extents.

It is expansionistic and xenophobic.

It lies at the conjunction of two major regional trade routes, the Gvuekh Cluster and the Nudashiir Lagani.

 • Despite vehemently anti-Imperial attitudes within the state, as well as the generally low level of development and the large number of less advanced worlds within its borders, it sees a considerable amount of interstellar trade.
 • The taxes, tributes, and protection money that the state demands from mercantile interests yield considerable riches.

A basic chart of the 17th Disjuncture:

Governance[edit]

The Disjuncture is primarily an Impersonal Bureaucracy driven by a philosophical perspective that most members of society follow.

 • The bureaucracy gathers taxes and tributes and oversees the administration of law within the polity.

The state is based around the thinking of the Vargr philosopher Tsaerrgae. He proposed the notion of "Disjunctures", a series of cataclysmic historical events that have shaped the universe, the galaxy, and Charted Space.

 • His teachings have become the core beliefs and driving force of the polity.

These Disjunctures include the Big Bang, the Ancients Final War, the collapse of the Ziru Sirka, and the Long Night, as well as various significant events in Vargr history. To date, there have supposedly been 16 of these paradigm-changing events.

 • The 17th Disjuncture, it is believed, will bring about the end of the Third Imperium and usher in a new era of prosperity for the Vargr.

The polity sees itself as the harbinger, the white-hot cutting edge, of this upcoming event. It believes that it has a great destiny to fulfil.

Astrography[edit]

A number of astrographic features define the polity:

The Windhorn Rift[edit]

The Disjuncture's spinward border follows the edge of the Windhorn Rift.

 • The rift hinders travel and commerce across the region.

A simple map showing the general extent of the Windhorn Rift.

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map.)

Trade Routes[edit]

The trade routes that lie within Disjuncture territory are the source of its wealth and power. These include:

The Gvuekh Cluster[edit]

The Gvuekh Cluster lies at the core of the Disjuncture. It is a trade route running primarily between Voenggaks Subsector and Kishadiku Subsector, as well as including a few worlds on the rimward edge of Sunggoe Subsector and a single world in Khuulu Subsector of Mendan Sector. It is a small Main.

 • It has 42 member systems.

 • Worlds lying on the Main are highlighted in tan.
 • Gvuekhluerar, the primary world of the cluster and the capital of the 17th Disjuncture, is marked in red.

The Nudashiir Lagani[edit]

A few Disjuncture member worlds lie on the Nudashiir Lagani, the great Lishun-Gashikan Main.

 • An eclectic mix of vessels, both human and Vargr, work their ways along the Main, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between its member worlds.
 • The Disjuncture lies at the far spinward end of the main.

 • The trailing subsectors of Windhorn Sector are depicted central left.
 • Worlds on the Main are highlighted in green.

Windhorn Chain Jump Bridge[edit]

The Windhorn Chain is the name given to a proposed jump route across the Windhorn Rift. Any ships using it would have to pass through Disjuncture territory.

The concept is to construct a jump bridge, consisting of one or more deep space refuelling facilities located within Uroez Subsector, deep within the rift.

Two variant proposals exist: a jump-4 bridge and a jump-6 bridge.

A basic map showing the proposed location of the jump-4 Windhorn Chain Jump Bridge.

Objections to the concept as proposed include:

 • It would incur massive expenditure and require considerable amounts of materials to set up and get operational.
 • It would require advanced ships, as well as support and maintenance facilities to keep them running. Few such ships are available within the extents.

 • On more than one occasion negotiations have descended into violence.

Despite these issues Gzugzo Lines, a major shipping interest within the sector, continues to support the idea.

Many believe that the jump bridge, in one of its two proposed forms, already exists.
