Ziafrplians Sector is one of the important border areas for the Zhodani Consulate. It functions as a clearing area for forays into the Vargr Extents and the Third Imperium.
  • The Vargr polity, the Thirz Empire, has had a long and sometimes troubled relationship with the Consulate, but is none the less practically considered a Client State of the Zhodani.

Meta-History & Background[edit]

Ziafrplians Sector was designed by Donald McKinney and appears in Alien Module 4: Zhodani (Mongoose Publishing, 2011).


  1. In 1985, Classic Traveller Zhodani (Alien Module) was published.
  2. In 1990, MegaTraveller Alien - Vilani & Vargr was published.
  3. In 2011, Mongoose Traveller: Zhodani was published.
  4. In 2012, Mongoose Traveller: Ziafrplians Sector was published.
  5. In 2015, the FFE Agent of the Imperium novel was published.

  • As of 2017, the entire sector has been programmed into the Traveller RPG Wiki.
    • Many of the systems and worlds are currently undergoing detailing and further development.
  • It has been T5 Second Survey reviewed and updated to T5 standards.

The Zhodani Consulate controls a clear majority of this astrographic region.

  • While some human traders from other parts of Charted Space visit the area under heavy supervision and monitoring, the vast majority of traffic on the spaceways is from the Zhodani and to a lesser extent, the Vargr.

The Ziafrplians sector has 484 worlds, of which 403 have native gas giants. The estimated population for the sector is 684 billion sophonts (not necessarily humans). There are 42 High population (Hi) worlds, 38 Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 249 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 22 Low population (Lo) worlds, and 67 Barren (Ba) worlds. There are 76 Agricultural (Ag) worlds versus 43 Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, and 44 Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds. There are 36 Rich (Ri) worlds versus 26 Industrial (In) worlds. There are 16 Asteroid (As) belts, 31 Desert (De) worlds, 31 Garden (Ga) worlds, 11 Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, 74 Poor (Po) worlds, 49 Vacuum (Va) worlds, and 30 Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
