Thras is an agricultural, nonindustrial garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces. The world will grow even quicker when its industrial sector begins to develop.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Natar Subsector of Far Home Sector.

Okada-Thras System[edit]

The primary is Okada, an ordinary yellow-white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 2.584 Sols, a mass of 1.196 Sols, and a diameter of 1.742 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a trace atmosphere inner world, (III-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, (III-II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (IV) a vacuum worldlet – orbital position (I) is empty. (V) Thras orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VI) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, and (VIII) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

(V) Thras is designated the mainworld. It orbits Okada at a mean distance of 1.72 AU (257.3 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 2 years 23 days and a rotation period of 45 hours. The axial tilt is 14 degrees. Thras has a diameter of 12,466 km, a density of 5.67 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.99 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.72 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 70% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 8°C. The climate is rated as Cold and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is slow and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the oceans work across the globe.

Thras, the mainworld, has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (VI) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
