Thele is a rich, agricultural garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.

  • This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
  • About 90% of the population is composed of baseline humans.
  • Around 10% of the population is composed of Hoppers.

Description / Astrography & Planetology[edit]

This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

Binary Solar System[edit]

Thele Binary Star System
Star Name Hierarchy Color Classification Remarks
Thele Primary Primary Yellow G2 V
Thele Companion Secondary Red M0 V 270 AU from primary

System Data[edit]

Chamlac-Thele System[edit]

The primary is Chamlac, a yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.994 Sols, a mass of 1 Sol, and a diameter of 1.366 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital positions (I) and (III) are empty. (IV) Sylus, a corrosive atmosphere inferno world orbits within the habitable zone: (IVa) Thele is its binary companion. (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VII-I) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (VII-II) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Manasar Subsystem[edit]

The companion is Manasar, an ordinary red main sequence star that orbits Chamlac at 270 AU (orbital position (XIII), 40 billion km) and has an orbital period of 4,436 years. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) a sparse icy planetoid belt lies within the habitable zone. (II) a vacuum iceworld forms the outer system. The iceworld retains no satellites.

(IV) Sylus[edit]

(IV) Sylus (UWP F9B0413-9) is the major component of the Sylus-Thele binary planet system and is designated an inferno world. It orbits Chamlac at a mean distance of 1.04 AU (155.6 million km), within the habitable zone, and lies at a mean separation of 25 diameters (380,000 km) from Thele. It has an orbital period of 1 year 22 days: it is tidally locked to Thele. The axial tilt is 12 degrees. Sylus has a diameter of 15,135 km, a density of 5.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.24 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Thele, its binary companion world, cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Corrosive, with a mean surface pressure of 68.65 bar and a composition of 93% carbon dioxide (CO2), 6% nitrogen (N2), and 1% sulfur dioxide (SO2), argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon monoxide (CO), azane (NH3) and other trace gases. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: 243°C. The climate is rated as Inferno and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is very active and violent weather systems driven by the star scour the globe.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(IVb) Thele[edit]

(IVb) Thele is the minor component of the Sylus-Thele binary planet system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean separation of 25 diameters (380,000 km) from Sylus: it is tidally locked to Sylus. The axial tilt is 16 degrees relative to Sylus. Thele has a diameter of 10,384 km, a density of 5.43 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.80 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Sylus cause frequent geological activity. The atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.82 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Around 74% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.5m. Mean surface temperature: 18°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Prime and experiences minor major extreme seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe.

  • Sylus and Thele orbit a barycenter lying approximately 12 diameters from Sylus and have an orbital period around one another of 5 days 3 hours.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 339 million km², Water surface area: 251 million km², Land surface area: 88 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Chamlac-Thele System[edit]

Thele, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

Manasar Subsystem[edit]

No native life is known to exist within the subsystem.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

Thele is one of the original Seven Colonies and has been populated for far more than three millennia.

World Starport[edit]

Thele has a good quality starport.

  • A Class B Starport Facility has not very well developed shipyards and is only capable of producing spaceships.
  • This facility has many very skilled personnel who can perform not only major repair work, but overhaul work as well.
  • This facility has advanced refueling and refining infrastructure. One may purchase practically any kind of refined fuel here.
  • Almost every starport of this class possesses both a Lowport and a Highport. Such ports rarely have more than one of each kind of port.

World Technology Level[edit]

Thele possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gears.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government[edit]

Thele has a Civil Service Bureaucracy government.

  • It is a government by agencies employing individuals selected for their expertise.
  • The typical power source of this government is an Oligarchy.
  • The typical power structure of this government is a Unitary State.

World Military[edit]
