Temarn is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and both non-agricultural and preindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • These worldlets are working towards being an industrial world but lack an adequate workforce to do so.
  • It is a part of the Yimin Jiti in the Veesene Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.

System Data[edit]

Ostea-Temarn System[edit]

The primary is Ostea, a dim red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0055 Sols, a mass of 0.302 Sols, and a diameter of 444,000 km. (I) a thin atmosphere radworld, (II) the Temarn Main Belt, designated the mainworld, (III) a ringed large gas giant, (IV) a small gas giant, and (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Peen Subsystem[edit]

The companion is Peen, a dim red main sequence star that lies approximately 2,100 AU from Ostea. It has a luminosity of 0.0055 Sols, a mass of 0.302 Sols, and a diameter of 444,000 km. (I) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (II) a dense atmosphere bigworld, (III) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (IV) a small ice giant, and (V) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(II) Temarn Main Belt[edit]

(II) the Temarn Main Belt lies within Ostea's outer zone and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 0.38 AU from Ostea and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 100 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.24 AU from the star and the outer edge of the belt is considered to lie at approximately 0.55 AU. The main inhabited body is named Rinth, with a mean orbital distance of 0.41 AU around Ostea and an orbital period of 174 days 12 hours. It has a long axis of 550 km, a density of 3.75 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.029 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: -135°C in sunlight, -190°C in shadow.

Native lifeforms[edit]

No world in the Temarn system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World starport[edit]

Temarn has a good quality starport.

  • A Class-B Starport Facility has not very well developed shipyards and is only capable of producing spaceships.
  • This facility has many very skilled personnel who can perform not only major repair work, but overhaul work as well.
  • This facility has advanced refueling and refining infrastructure. One may purchase practically any kind of refined fuel here.
  • Almost every starport of this class possesses both a Lowport and a Highport. Such ports rarely have more than one of each kind of port.

World technology level[edit]

Temarn possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World government[edit]

Temarn has a Civil Service Bureaucracy government.

  • It is a government by agencies employing individuals selected for their expertise.
  • The typical power source of this government is an Oligarchy.
  • The typical power structure of this government is a Unitary State.
