Dubious research (2017)[edit]

"Increasingly, Imperial society is realizing that unrestricted interstellar trade can often destabilize indigenous communities of NIL's and is increasingly restricting trade with these worlds to appropriate technologies determined by the IISS. The scout service uses the Travel Zone designation system to help protect indigenous societies from destabilizing outside influences."

I seriously doubt this is true. In fact I know it is false. Rje (talk) 18:43, 18 September 2017 (EDT)

This has been a theme since the earliest days of Traveller. CT materials have this theme of the Prime Directive and then repeatedly violate it. Think of that text as an "in universe" government PSA statement, not a comprehensive binding statement. Can you imagine a scout manual saying otherwise? Exploit the NILs? That's reality, not government documents.

Requires editing (2017)[edit]

A lot of this technical text frankly goes beyond the game. Ideally the most important and germane data comes first, and then the detailed stuff for a deep dive comes below the fold. Rje (talk) 18:43, 18 September 2017 (EDT)

The Wiki is tasked with providing a variety of materials, canon, non-canon, and semi-canon.

  • The mission of the wiki has not been well understood by much of the base. Everyone wants everything from it, an un-achievable expectation.
  • More folds might be a good strategy for dealing with a plethora of knowledge. Thank you for your comments.
