History & Background (Dossier) (Milieu: 1200)[edit]

Formerly a Client State of the Imperium, these worlds began breaking away from Imperial influence even before the present troubles began. This area was settled by individualists with little respect for titles of formality. With Aslan territory so close, this collection of republics has functioned well. A Republican fleet defeated an Aslan fleet at Stone Place (Beyond 2526) in 1190. [1]

However, courage and resourcefulness cannot make up for the tremendous manufacturing and economic advantages enjoyed by the Aslan. Only the internal feuds and rivalry of the Aslan have kept this border state from being swallowed whole. Border raids by both sides are common.

The Stormhaven Republic allows each planet to govern itself, as long as the planet is some form of democracy. Each planet elects representatives to the Allthing on Stormhaven, the legislature that handles interplanetary affairs. In spite of some petty quarrels, the threat of Aslan attack has kept the Republic strongly united.
