The Za'tachk Alignment is a multi-system member state of the Hive Federation, and the interstellar polity of the Za'tachk species.

The Alignment is the highest level of Za'tachk government. A world government governs most planets within the Alignment, and a planet will often be divided into several Regions, overseen by a regional governor and her council. Regions are further broken down into Districts and finally Nests.

A council of matriarchs heads Za'tachk government, with three of their number, known as the Rearmost Secretaries, chosen as the figureheads.

Demographics[edit]

The Alignment's Bureau of Population keeps a census of all Za'tachk and their bloodlines and ensures that the best-matched Za'tachk of all three sexes are brought together into nests. Through this bureaucratic process, all Za'tachk communities have a similar population breakdown of 60% infertile scouts and homesteaders, 30% fertile scouts and homesteaders, and 10% matriarchs.

Economics[edit]

Corporations active within the Za'tachk Alignment include:

  • Slatrastelir: A well-known and highly respected spacecraft classification society. The standards created and used by Slatrastelir have been adopted throughout the Hive Federation and in many client states.
  • Phloovastot Ath: An outsourcing company specialising in the administration of new colonies and settlements.
  • Thecudi Lestu Loox: Another outsourcing company, which provides administrative personnel to other companies on a contractual basis.

In keeping with the Za'tachk obsession with the number three, three matriarchs head all bureaus, three leaders lead all businesses except for the very smallest, and all committees have memberships divisible by three.
