Woden is a nonindustrial, fluidic hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Ibaru Subsector of Zarushagar Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • This world lies on the Gushemege Main.
  • It is a member of the Strela Cluster.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Woden is a binary star system.

  • The pair are red main sequence stars, named Geri and Freki respectively.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Woden orbits at the outer edge of the primary star's narrow habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Woden is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Woden has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks, but protective suits not necessary, but are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Woden has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water and ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

  • The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
  • Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

The world's two stars are named for the mythical wolf-warrior companions of the old Terran deity Woden.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Woden has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Woden has a population of 100,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Woden possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Woden has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Woden has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
