Verial is a poor, low-population desert world with a population less than 10,000 sophonts in population size.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Aredian Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- The Verial system is a part of the Pador-Aredian Cluster.

System Data[edit]
Astrath-Verial System[edit]
The primary is Astrath, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.216 Sols, a mass of 0.672 Sols, and a diameter of 978,000 km. (I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world orbits within the habitable zone. (II) Verial, designated the mainworld, (III) a trace atmosphere radworld, (IV) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (V) a ringed large gas giant, (VI) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (VII-I) a small gas giant, (VII-II) a ringed small ice giant, and (VIII) a sparse icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(II) Verial[edit]
(II) Verial is designated the mainworld. It orbits Astrath at a mean distance of 0.34 AU (50.9 million km), within the within the H+ region of the outer system. It has an orbital period of 88 days 8 hours: it is tidally locked to Astrath. The axial tilt is 20 degrees relative to Astrath. Verial has a diameter of 6,412 km, a density of 3.98 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.36 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Slago, its large close moon, cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.57 bar and a composition of 81% nitrogen (N2), 18% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 2% of the surface is covered in sheets of water ice and lakes of water kept liquid by geothermal activity. Mean surface temperature: -25°C. The climate is rated as Cold and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is slow and weak weather systems driven by the star drift across the globe.
Satellites[edit]
Verial retains two natural satellites, a close exotic atmosphere hospitable world named Slago and a vacuum worldlet named Ularda:
- (IIa) Slago (UWP Y3A0000-0, orbiting at 6 Diameters/38,500 km)
- (IIb) Ularda (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 35 Diameters/225,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 129 million km², Land surface area: 126 million km², Water surface area: 3 million km².
- Verial is a Twilight Zone World.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Astrath-Verial System[edit]
Verial, the mainworld, lying within the H+ region of the outer system, has primitive cryophile native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that thrive in the harsh conditions. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Verial has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Verial possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World government[edit]
Verial is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
