Ushkhuur is a large water world with very deep oceans and less than 1% of its land above sea level. The atmosphere is comfortably breathable. The system supports a population in between 10 million and one billion sophonts. This is a cold world with an overall climate is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mimu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ushkhuur, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a marquis. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Gaak.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Ushkhuur is a chilly world entirely covered in oceans of liquid water. The poles are covered by small icecaps and only the equator avoids the year-round drift ice. Weather patterns are unpredictable and often violent and can range from huge electric storms and violent rains right through to dense sea-mists and even, on occasion, gloriously sunny days. The planet has an extremely high gravity: the world is twice as dense as Terra and has a surface gravity of almost 2.5 gees.

Ushkhuur is a member of the Siakmasfa Cluster.

Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

Ushkhuur has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

Ushkhuur is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

World Atmosphere (A)

Ushkhuur has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Ushkhuur has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

World Population (P)

Ushkhuur has a population of 10,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Government (G)

Ushkhuur has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law Level (L)

Ushkhuur has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)

Ushkhuur possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Ushkhuur, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The local population live in large seabed metroplexes, each of which is self- governing and are protected from the local climate and gravity. Most of the population have little interest in their world and some can claim to have never been outside of the cities. For those who do venture into the wilds of Ushkhuur there are rich rewards: the local lifeforms are intriguing and varied and a well organized underwater expedition can find spectacular vistas.
