Usani Subsector: The seat of the Duchy of Usani is Usani (Deneb 2225). The Duchy is not powerful and is surrounded by powerful subsectors. Its only asset is in having the sector capital, at least in name. Duke Usani has no counts to advise him or help spend his wealth, with which he tries to broker alliances between Inar, Atsah and Vincennes and stave off Zeng.

Description[edit]

Usani, subsector K of Deneb has 30 worlds, of which 23 have native gas giants. There is one Asteroid (As) belt, five Desert (De) worlds, three Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, seven Poor (Po) worlds, five Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world. In Usani there is one race homeworld.

Native Sophonts[edit]

The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this area:

Physical Astrography[edit]

Mains and Branches[edit]

Traces and Clusters[edit]

Rifts, Voids, and Jump Bridges[edit]

Other Astrographic Features[edit]

History & Background[edit]

The subsector was first settled in -2400 by a Vilani clan fleeing the Rule of Man to settle four systems, including Deneb and Usani. These settlements were left to fend for themselves through the Long Night, and in -80 the Deneb colony regained jump capability and recontacted the two surviving systems.

In time four mainworlds formed the Lidash League, which was contacted by the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service in 34. By year 60 the League had thriving trade with the Imperium, and Deneb was the most important trade and supply center in the Domain of Deneb for nearly 20 years.

In the year 75, Regina (Spinward Marches 1910) and its surrounding worlds were settled, which shifted the center of trade from Deneb to Mora (Spinward Marches 3124). In 100 the League was admitted into the Imperium. The rest of Usani Subsector, originally designated District 193, was settled mainly from 105 to 250. In 230 Usani Subsector was admitted into the Imperium.

Deneb (Deneb 1925) is home to an adept and enterprising Sophont people, the Nenlat. Usani administrates most of the functions of Geniishir and Vast Heavens subsectors.

Although Usani (Deneb 2225) was removed as subsector capital, the subsector's name was not changed to reflect its new capital of Deneb (Deneb 1925) in order to avoid confusion with the name of the sector -- and to continue to honor Usani, which continues to serve as a frontier capital and, in time, as headquarters for Regency Quarantine District 4. Usani, subsector K of Deneb contains 43 stars and 312 identified planets; 18 monostellar systems, 11 binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 23 of the 30 systems (76%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, five Desert (De) worlds, three Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, seven Poor (Po) worlds, five Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Usani has an estimated population of 62 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 13 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, nine Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Deneb (Deneb 1925). The population consists of 5 sophont groups including one native sophont.
