General Description[edit]

The TC14 Ralmu class Destroyer Leader is a destroyer class deployed by the Trooles Confederation. Examples of the class can be encountered throughout the coreward parts of Theta Borealis Sector. The vessel has a fully streamlined conical structure hull. It is fitted with fuel scoops and fuel purification plant allowing it to perform wilderness ocean refueling. These are used as flotilla leaders of smaller destroyers and other escort vessels.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage / Hull The TC14 Ralmu class Destroyer Leader is constructed using a 1,400 Ton hull built in a fully streamlined conical structure configuration. The hull is capable of wilderness ocean refueling.
  • The vessel has two airlocks. The cargo hold is accessed by a large bay doors that also serves to anchor docking clamps for service vehicles.
2. Crew x90 personnel.
  • x11 command, x5 engineering, x10 gunnery, x7 flight, x3 service and x54 marines in 48 double occupancy staterooms.

Accommodations

  • There are 48 Staterooms.
    • All Staterooms are given over to the crew. All crew quarters are double occupancy.
  • There are 6 Low Berths.

Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.

  • There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off.
  • There are multiple emergency lockers.
3. Performance The vessel mounts a Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-5 drive, and an upgraded fusion Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-2 and 5-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 5 and an emergency agility of 5. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for a Jump-2 and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. It is fitted with drop tanks, should extended range operations be required.
  • The engineering section has a main control room.
  • The jump drive utilizes a lanthanum hull grid.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4. Electronics Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/5 fib computer.
  • There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel.
  • The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a basic sensor array, and has an avionics suite. They have system range laser, microwave and radio communication arrays.
5. Hardpoints x14 hardpoints.
  • The listed weapons systems are typical for the class.
6. Armament TC14 Ralmu class Destroyer Leader are fitted with weapon systems for naval service.
  • x3 dual plasma gun turrets firing as six factor 2 batteries
  • x1 50 ton factor 7 missile bay
7. Defenses Factor-1 hull armor
  • x1 triple sand caster turrets firing as a single factor 4 battery.
8. Craft x2 40T TC04 Valkyrie class Dropships, x4 4T Air Rafts
9. Fuel Treatment The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 364 Tons. They are delivered with a new set of optional jump 2 drop tanks, which can be fitted as needed.
  • The hull is fitted with fuel scoops.
  • The vessel is equipped with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in 8 hours: the plant is operated and maintained by the engineering crew.
10. Cost The basic cost of the vessel is MCr1,333.801 (base)
MCr1,067.041 (qty)
  • Architects Fee: MCr13.338
11. Construction Time 168 weeks as standard, 134 weeks in bulk.
  • Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12. Comments Standard cargo capacity amounts to 10.0 Tons.
  • The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems.
  • Sections of the hold may be isolated if desired and can be provided with specialized environmental conditions, typically refrigeration.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The TC14 Ralmu class Destroyer Leader class is used by the Trooles Confederation. These fully streamlined conical structures can land on planetary surfaces. They carry two dropships and a platoon of TC004 Rambler class Grav APCs for the marine company. Limitations of the design include: the light hull armor and a weaker sand caster battery. The missile bay is used for orbital bombardment. The design is faster and most agile which requires a much larger fusion power plant. The 54 marines can use drop capsules to attack from orbit. The design suffers from no computer back ups. They elect to use short range plasma guns instead of beam laser batteries.

Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]

Vessel Peculiarities:

Class Naming Practice/s:
Vessels of the Trooles Confederation are given alphanumeric designations and callsigns by other interstellar states. TC refers to Trooles Confederation (a designation applied to all Confederation combat units), 14 is a multiple of hundreds of tons of displacement and also indicates at a glance the number of weapons mounts, and when it is used 'b' refers to the version of the vessel, relating to its construction tech level and bracketing its maximum jump potential. Type codes will often repeat: 'Ralmu' is an easy to remember class name to identify the specific type of vessel.

  • Individual vessels are named by a committee using an authorized list.
