The Strend Cluster is a minor human polity located in Menorial Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.

  • The members of the Cluster are technologically advanced and moderately powerful but expend so much of their energy in futile cold wars with the Imperium and the Florian League that their power is severely limited.

Goals[edit]

The maintenance of the status quo power structure while thwarting the encroachment of other governments and megacorporations.

Government & Law[edit]

The Cluster is ruled by a totalitarian government based on Strend (0505).

Military & Intelligence[edit]

The powerful Strend Navy is responsible for defending this realm.

Trade[edit]

Strend maintains a sizable trading fleet, divided into three quasi-military commands.

  • Local Command, exclusively equipped with jump-1 vessels, operates only within the Strend Cluster.
  • Area Command has jump-2 vessels and maintains links into the Third Imperium by way of Zephyr, and to spinward markets through Dustpan and Padgo.
  • Regional Command has control of all jump-3 vessels, most of which are employed on the run to Florian League space or into Marrakesh, both by way of Crescent. These ships are lightly armed and capable of acting as naval auxiliaries.

Strend derives considerable wealth from its position as a link between the Florian League and Imperial holdings in the Spinward Marches Sector.

History & Background[edit]

The Cluster was settled by an independent Solomani trader named Lucien Strend in the 800s. Strend and his followers were devotees of the ancient French culture from Terra. French is the official language of the cluster.

Rumors link the Cluster to various anti-Imperial factions operating in the Spinward Marches and to occasional attacks on Imperial shipping along the Florian Corridor.

Worlds & Sectors (Astrography)[edit]

The Strand cluster (Marseilles, Paques, Allemagne, Sable des Etoiles, and Strend) was first explored and settled in the 800's by Lucien Strand, an independent trader and historian, proud of his heritage and fascinated with the early Terran culture of France.

  • Ancient French is the common language on all worlds of the cluster, and many aspects of French culture are to be seen.
