Sardia is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Theton Subsector of Vland Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- Sardia is located on the Vilani Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Sardia has a solitary primary star named Coganos.
- It is an orange main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The Inner Belt, an extremely narrow rocky planetoid belt orbiting within the hot inner system.
- Sardia, a temperate, very thin atmosphere world designated as the mainworld and orbiting within the habitable zone.
- Papp, a small, primarily nitrogen atmosphere world orbiting within the outer system.
- Yeatem and a smaller body designated alpha (α), two tiny vacuum worldlets orbiting within the outer system.
- The Belt Solu and the Belt Dinus, two broad rocky planetoid belts lying within the deep outer system.
- Profess, an ice giant with a ring system orbiting within the deep outer system.
- Achatem, a large gas giant with a family of moons, orbiting within the deep outer system.
- A small ice giant with an eccentric orbit lying within the far outer system. It is designated beta (β).
- A small ice-capped vacuum world that marks the outer edge of the system. It is designated gamma (γ).
- A chart depicting the Sardia system, based on data provided in "The Flaming Eye".
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Sardia is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Sardia has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Sardia has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
A map of Sardia, the nominated mainworld of the system, showing the oceans, the continents and largest islands, major highland regions, and the small polar icecaps.
- Far more detailed maps are available locally.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
- A simple map of Sardia, the mainworld of the system.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
At the height of the Third Imperium, a delegation of methane breathers from Argonos visited Sardia. These dignitaries used a modified Arctica-class refrigeration van to travel. A view window was installed to allow them to see the exotic scenery of their hosts' "hellishly hot" planet[2].
World Starport (St)[edit]
Sardia has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The world is host to an Imperial Scout Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Sardia has a population of 400,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Sardia possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Sardia is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Sardia has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Sardia, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: D (very abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 3 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
- -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the area and some worlds become barren.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 604 to 622: the Imperial Civil War. The region suffers disruption and widespread economic issues.
- 624: the Express Boat Network is established, facilitating communications, trade, and economic growth within the area.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
