Cynch-Rysos System

The primary is Cynch, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.42 Sols, a mass of 0.825 Sols, and a diameter of 1.263 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum inner world, (II-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (II-II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world. (III) Rysos orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (V) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI) a ringed large gas giant, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, and (VIII) a small gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

(III) Rysos

(III) Rysos is designated the mainworld. It orbits Cynch at a mean distance of 0.81 AU (121.2 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 293 days 4 hours and a rotation period of 22 hours. The axial tilt is 31 degrees. Rysos has a diameter of 7,168 km, a density of 6.15 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.63 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.71 bar and a composition of 70% nitrogen (N₂), 28% oxygen (O₂), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), ozone (O₃), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 44% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 6°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and experiences moderate seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe.

Mainworld Size (S)

This world is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

This world has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

This world has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Rysos retains a single natural satellite, a cratered vacuum worldlet named Bostell:

The hot marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive thermophile native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that thrive in the harsh conditions. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Rysos, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Rysos has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
