Paradise is a fluid world with oceans of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, or hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Paradise Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]
Sydal-Paradise System[edit]
The primary is Sydal, an active blue-white giant star. It has a luminosity of 8.1 Sols, a mass of 8.6 Sols, and a diameter of 6.456 million km. The inner system consists of (IV) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (V) a vacuum inner world, (VI) a vacuum worldlet, and (VII) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital positions (I), (II) and (III) are empty. (VIII) Paradise orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. Only Paradise retains a satellite.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(VIII) Paradise[edit]
(VIII) Paradise is designated the mainworld and orbits Sydal at a mean distance of 10.6 AU (1.58 billion km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 11 years 281 days and a rotation period of 18.5 hours. The axial tilt is 18.5 degrees. Paradise has a diameter of 11,442 km, a density of 5.87 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.95 G. The world is geologically very active. Its atmosphere is rated as Insidious, with a mean surface pressure of 3.5 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen, 17% chlorine, 3% fluorine, and 1% muriatic acid vapour, argon, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 34% of the surface is covered in seas and lakes of nitrogen trichloride (trichloramine): average tidal ranges exceed 0.75m. Mean surface temperature: 34°C. The atmosphere is extremely active and violent weather systems, powered by the system’s turbulent primary star, sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellite:[edit]
Paradise retains a single natural satellite, a vacuum moon named Nirvana:
- (VIIIa) Nirvana (UWP Y300000-0, orbits at 12 Diameters/137,000 km)
Mainworld geography and topography[edit]
Paradise is geologically active, flexed both by the gravitational pull of the huge primary star and by its close moon. Seismic activity across the world constantly reveals new land surfaces and opens new faults. Around volcanic outlets there are streams and pools of sulphur dichloride, which gradually degrades into other compounds and gases. The surface of Paradise is crusted with massive amounts of salts, chlorides, and other more exotic substances, formed by the atmospheric gases reacting with exposed minerals and compounds.
The murky green skies are churned by high-speed winds and lit by endless flashes of lightning. The atmosphere contains significant amounts of muriatic acid vapour, largely in high-altitude clouds: in colder climates it may condense into pools. Paradise is a relatively temperate, though this varies by latitude and by season.
Nitrogen trichloride – trichloramine – is created within the atmosphere both by energy from the star and by chemical reactions powered by lightning. It falls as precipitation to form oily yellow seas. When the wind drops the air fills with dense chemical mists and fogs that drift off of the fluid seas and hang over the land.
Native lifeforms[edit]
The world has extensive native life. Most of the land surface is covered in dense networks of ‘plants’, sedentary but fast-growing organisms ranging from the microscopic to many kilometers across. These ingest the various salts and compounds and break them down, absorbing nutrients and releasing vast amounts of chlorine gas back into the atmosphere – enough to maintain a cycle of atmospheric renewal. Slightly more mobile ‘animals’ graze on these plants and prey upon each other, though the distinction between flora and fauna is blurred at best.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Paradise has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Paradise possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World government[edit]
Paradise has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
