Oriah is a high-population ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and industrial in nature with a billion or more sophonts in population size.

• These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
• Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
• As a group of industrial worldlets, well-developed manufacturing and processing sectors are major business here. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
• The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
• It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Oriah Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector.

• This world-system hosts a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

History & Background (Dossier)

Oriah is an important, high population and heavily industrialized asteroid belt located in Oriah Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector. The system is non-aligned and contains a naval base.

• During the Rim War the ruling Solomani Party was badly discredited. During the post-war years political and labour unrest led to a popular uprising in 1098, which seized power and began purging the Solomani Party. The Solomani Party sanctioned Oriah in 1100 and then expelled the world from the Confederation.
• In 1103 Oriah signed a treaty with fellow non-aligned world Valinii (Alpha Crucis 2415) and sent military forces to help protect Valinii’s colony Oglin (Alpha Crucis 2517) against a Solomani Party-sponsored insurgency.
