Niirkhi is an agricultural and garden world with an ideal environment for producing food from plants, animals, or other forms. The system hosts a population between 10 million and 100 million. This is a temperate world, with a climate of average temperatures. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Shallows Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Niirkhi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdoms of a baron and a minor duke. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Way Station. During the Long Night this world was named Kig.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Niirkhi is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.

History and background[edit]

The agricultural outpost of Niirkhi is geared towards the feeding of Diishalum (Dagudashaag 0714). Although virtually all its foodstuffs are sold to its industrial neighbor, it is still does not supply enough of Diishalum's needs to have any significant economic clout. Diishalum controls the prices of its imports from Niirkhi, and by extension, the wages of the local agricultural workforce.

Through overt (and covert) pressure the industrial concerns of Diishalum have an exploitative trade agreement which sees the imports from Niirkhi purchased at prices well below the market rate and exports to Niirkhi (manufactured and processed goods) sold at a premium. The seething resentment that this foster has led to a number of protracted and costly strike actions, which in turn has further eroded Niirkhi's finances and bargaining position. A possible resolution is in sight as the government of Irphothe (Dagudashaag 0515) has recently entered into negotiations for the Niirkhi harvest, and offer 10% above the price Diishalum currently pays.

Rumoured to exist within the depths of the starport base on Tarterus (Dagudashaag 0514) is a Timer club, once operated by a defunct company, Future Promise Enterprises. The facility is known to have been operating in 903, prior to the closure of large sections of the base. Records indicate that the 'inhabitants' were meant to be transferred to the neighboring system of Niirkhi but there is no indication that this was ever carried out.
