One of the most persistent of the unsubstantiated rumors in this sector is the Mind Runner Conspiracy. This was a supposed plot by a secret society of psionics to dominate Humaniti by controlling key people. This group was said to be run by the Parallel Commissionate. Whenever things happen that cannot be easily explained, or if the logical answer goes against the grain, the rumors of "The Conspiracy" start again.

At various times the Conspiracy is said to originate with the Zhodani, with the Drak-Arr Alliance, or from a "lost colony" in Corellan territory. Although there is no proof that the Mind Runner Conspiracy has ever existed, it does illustrate the generally accepted view of psionics. There are backward places where "witches" are still stoned to death.
