Meesi is a nonindustrial, oceanic water world.

  • It is covered with very deep oceans, of waterous (H2O) with less than 1% of its land above sea level.
  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 1% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Tsorva Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System Data[edit]

Yousa-Meesi System[edit]

The primary is Yousa, a hot yellow-white subgiant star. It has a luminosity of 16.2 Sols, a mass of 2.3 Sols, and a diameter of 3.7 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a vacuum worldlet, (III) a vacuum inner world, (V) a sparse stony planetoid belt, and (VI) a standard atmosphere bigworld – orbital positions (I) and (IV) are empty. (VII) Meesi orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VIII) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (IX) a small gas giant, and (X) a small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(VII) Meesi[edit]

(VII) Meesi is designated the mainworld. It orbits Yousa at a mean distance of 4.7 AU (703 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 6 years 262 days and a rotation period of 32 hours. The axial tilt is 23 degrees. Meesi has a diameter of 16,346 km, a density of 5.35 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.24 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a mean surface pressure of 2.3 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 99.8% of the surface is covered in an ocean of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 2m. Mean surface temperature: 5°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems, driven by the star and the ocean, surge across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.

Satellite:[edit]

Meesi retains a single natural satellite, a thin atmosphere hospitable world world named Pummet:

(VIIa) Pummet (UWP H143000-0, orbiting Meesi at 11 Diameters/180,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 839 million km², Water surface area: 837 million km², Land surface area: 2 million km². Meesi is covered by the Weltmeer, a global ocean with an average depth of 8,500m: only a few volcanic peaks break the surface. Both poles are covered by small permanent icecaps and surrounded by large fields of pack ice: the chilly waters around them are called the Nördlich Kaldsee and the Süd Kaldsee respectively. Large icebergs are common across the world. Equatorial waters, collectively called the Mittelwasser, are substantially shallower and warmer and have some of the richest ecosystems on the world. The majority of the world's land surface area is concentrated in the Gipfel islands, an archipelago located in the northern tropics. The largest island in the chain (and also the largest single landmass on the world) is Steininsel, a series of joined volcanic peaks with a length of 250 km and a surface area of 20,000 km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

The hot bigworld lying in orbital position (VI) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

Meesi, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. There are many species of pelagic and shallows-dwelling flora, ranging from microscopic algae to huge weed forests: their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. Fauna is entirely aquatic or flying in nature. The most common body pattern for swimming organisms is Trilateral N-TBS-FF-FN-T, with cartilage interiors, scum fluids and scaly exteriors. Some swimming creatures can reach gigantic sizes. Flyers tend to follow the body pattern Trilateral HS-TB-WW-LN-T, with cartilage interiors, scum fluids and skin exteriors. Local organisms cannot be digested by humans without extensive processing.

  • Pummet, Meesi's temperate hospitable moon has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (VIII) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Meesi has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level[edit]

Meesi possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government[edit]

Meesi is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
