Maar Ki Zon
Maar Ki Zon or the "Book of the Way", is (in part at least) a religious text from the pre-Vilani contact Sarnese Empire on Sylea (Capital).
Description (Specifications)[edit]
It has been translated into many languages, including Galanglic. However, the dozens of volumes of commentary on the Book of the Way are permitted to be written only in Old Sylean.
Maar Ki Zon describes the Goddess Mora and her cornucopia-like basket of plenty Batadis. While Mora is perhaps the most well-known of the Sylean pantheon, other gods include Forigi, the goddess of the hunt; Dimoph, the sun god; and Lisharen, the goddess of the night.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
At the beginning of the Long Night, with both the Vilani and Solomani no longer in command, Syleans from their world's reservations and a number of Sylean nationalists, the Thar Ven ("successors") sought to restore their world's pre-contact cultures. They discovered a copy of Maar Ki Zon or the "Book of the Way", a text from the Sarnese Empire.
Maar Zon was allegedly based on the teachings of a single charismatic philosopher, although modern Maar Zon traditions never give that founder a name and there are no independent records of their existence. Maar Zon appears to have been an attempt to synthesize several earlier schools of Sylean religious thought, while addressing the problems posed by the presence of offworlders on Sylea.
